I have one with dual Zeon in my server since , really don't know 6 or 7 years , very good board,

Why either boards? They look like your run-of-the-mill board, with no special features. Don't get me wrong, I've been working with a X8DAi for a year now, and am extremely satisfied.

would be using it more of a workstation for CAD, photoshop and not server usage

Then save some money and buy an Asus or a Gigabyte. Cheaper, and the board will work just fine.

those are single CPU board.. unless you need the PCI-X slots, I see no need for a SM board. What is the reason , I'm curious

I might use the next system build for recording images from a telescope, so I could use the slots for a frame grabber card connected to a camera to record from
