What is the difference between the 790fx chipset and 890fx chipset?

nice.

expecting giga boards to be 25-50 dollars less. mate it with a 100$ 620/630 cpu and its flying. heck maybe a rana duallie may be better for clocks/voltage wise.

regardless, people going intel usually spend more. so if amd boards were as expensive as intels....hmm........bad bad bad.

best move from asus if the price holds its weight as per brother sky's writings...ive seen in many years

Black edition will probably be in a 140w version/3.0ghz version. Just a guess of course.

The Asus board looks great feature wise, but I don't really like all the "crappy coolers" on the motherboard.

what an expert here, he can say the cooler are crappy just by the look of a pics you may not like the cooler look, but may be you can wait and see the temps results before say it's crapy.

Default Not a fan of PCI slot layout

I'd prefere fewer (2 or 3) PCIe 16X slots plus some 1X slots for sound and TV cards.

Sorry for the late comment, but the pricing does seem about right for the market. The high end 790FX boards were in the same range, and that paired with the pricing on the top tier PhII quads did make the platform attractive for budget minded enthusiasts who wanted all of the bells and whistles of a premium chipset, but who couldn't see themselves coming up with the cash for a top-of-the-line i7 rig.
