I could be nice to see some benchmark that use these new instructions...

I didn't see any in your review right?

That is assuming the same clocks as a Bloomfield though. This will overclock better as well.

I do realize who this processor is marketed to: Really Stupid People. And/Or people who not only have too much money, but are also ignorant and wasteful.

It seems to me that the average enthusiast would be best off to upgrade as soon as the tock is released - that is, the new microarchitecture. The tick is really a cash grab; something that Intel could do if they wanted, but would rather wait a year and charge more money for it.

And what are you going to do with that? I am pretty sur you don't have any work station that need it or you don't have a use for this CPU, the only point if this is not for high rendering and thing like that is to get e-peen bigger. You have to concider that probably 95% of software are not quad optimized so for 6 core and 12 thread...just a waste...Ho and for server use, memory acces is not that fast so better to stay with 8 core AMD they are better on this point.

Why do you thing I sold my Classied and my 920.. I know very well it was coming, and I will not need the classified after , I keep the i5-750 because it's better for gaming than a I7-920 , and anyway it's my son who will use the 750 latter. I will swith the board on the Mozart, I already start to fit the WC in it. The Obsidian will receive the new Sexa-Core, with the Rampage III extreme

If I could fold and get 40K PPD on it I would love one if I could get one used.

This chip doesn't seem to offer much benefit for the average user who's on an i7 920 @ 4.0Ghz already. It seems to perform the same clock for clock to the 975 on anything that doesn't take advantage of 6 cores, even though it has more cache.

I wonder how it will compare to the hex-core Xeon's at the same clock speed.
