My System Specs

Default

Still farting around a little troubleshooting / tinkering.....I also installed backplates / highflow brackets on 480's and did notice that GPU #1 was running about 8C warmer than #2...underload as much as 13C....damn, I remember when I had this issue wit Tri Sli 280's after a rip down and rebuild......also...P95 installed crashed with a 1st crack at 4.0 Ghz (fairly low vCore though ...likely the culprit..

This morning:
1. Removed GPU's and "relaxed" the backplate screws a notch
2. Swapped GPU's (moved lower to position #1 and upper to position #3)
3. Tidied up cabling
4. Removed 2nd CPU 8Pin Connector (not necessary for my planned OC's)
5. Removed 6 GB RAM...go with 6GB initially while testing OC's tha install the other 6GB when I figure out the OC'ability

My GPU's now run about the same as they did prior to the rip apart / rebuild...GPU#1 39C and GPU#2 41C......who knows what part of the changes above effected it...could have simply been the swap...
Fairly decent spread on idle Temps on 12 Cores...anywhere between 20 - 30C...loaded up LinX last night and was hitting 52 - 59C full load (until it crashed)....I think the thermals are fine (fairly inexperienced with CPU installs...only my 4th go).....

Withthe AX 1.2 kW....wouldn't you know that the Molex / Sata power connectors are not compatible with the HX 1 kW...pita...replace all cabling (except SATA Data), Also they designed the Sata Power cables with a slightly shorter distance between Sata power sockets along "chain"...another pita.....what I could get away with one cable (HX), now needs two (AX).....

Anyhow....having fun, always fun to have new toys to play with ;)

btw...Chilly..still no plans to Fold...sorry bud....

Anyhow.....lots of tinkering

very nice. you mustve increased other than just vcore?
perhaps the cards were flexing? always a possibility.
not sure youll need 12 gigs but hey.
no issues with the ax? dont think youll hate yourself for not picking up the 1500(now)

^^^ Keeping my ears open for the dreaded "whining coil"...nothing yet, if it happens, hopefully it will be in time to send er back to NCIX as apposed to RMA (apparantly Corsair is now still testing "fixes", so "Back-up" of RMA's)..fingers crossed mine is alright.
As for Cards...nah...no flexing...same HW config / Software bug that I had to figure out with my previous Tri 280's....think I figured it ;)

Honestly, the only reason I was considering the ST 1.5 kW was possibly Tri 480's,,,,,but at this point its simply of no benefit (other than +6-8K in Vantag) and more heat to deal with....Sli 480's is a "sweet spot"....whereby I thought my 280"s hit thier sweet spot running Tri ;)

Still mucking about...but looks as though thermals (excellent 32nm results) on air should allow me to go up some more yet...maybe to 4.3 ghz

Just ran LinX 20 cycles and no errors...last night was only 10 cycles.
Primary settings:
vCore 1.4v "With VDroop enabled" - 1.388v under full load
vTT 1.35v ( + 150mv
QPI 133 Mhx Mult x 31
vDimm 1.64v 8-8-8-24-74 1T
Turbo off and HT enabled (12 Threads)
Uncore x 24

Everything else on Auto ;)

Max Temps on one of the Cores for the x 20 run was 64C

So, now I'll either start lowering vCore / vTT or up the Mult ;) ........was hoping for 4.1..looks good, now, 4.2 - 4.3 on Air would be great!

That's why my freaking RMA'd TX750 has been sitting there for a week.......

Personally, I'd be pretty damn happy with 4.1G on a high-end hexacore, especially since you're on air, but what would be the fun in that????? :)

and, perhaps hooking a killawatt at the wall? idle-->>linpack load should be interesting ;)

^^^^ I think I'll try all settings "as is"...bump up my Mult to 32 and test 4.23 Ghz....if it fails...go from thier...I would be comfortable with 75 - 80C full LinX load...so hopefully I can get stable at 4.2 - 4.3 ;)

EDIT: Gave the x32 Mult a go...instant BSOD in LinX...upping vCore to 1.45v and Vtt to 1.375v same thing, just a little longer...seems these higher clocks may require upping QPI, changing to 2:10.....running RAM at 1400 - 1500 Mhz....anyhow...too much tinkering for now...so happy with my Hexa at 4.11

Lookin' pretty good rj ......you may want to play around with the QPI and multi to hit 4.2+ and improve vantage scores. I found running a 25-26 multi and upping the QPI to around 170 worked well for mine, play around with it and you may just be surprised
