My System Specs

Default I7 920 to Core i7 980X Question

If you jump from 4 cores to 6 will you need to reinstall the OS?

no, windows simply adds the drivers for the new processor and you reboot. same thing swapping processors with the same amount of cores.

Altough if you are on an oced CPu dont foret to clear Cmos. I did this once and destroyed my Os install !

you probably don't even need anything for the OS at all

what you might need, is an updated BIOS.
