They may be cheaper at NCIX, but the i7 920 combo here will technically cost me ~$60 more.

ha! That's probably what I might do (now considering the other parts involved).
Even though you will likely pay some more for a new i7 920 (or 930) & MB than you would get for your 860 & MB, the difference would be minimal and that way you get the other stuff that you want.
Plus you get a chance to play with the 860 and you might just stick with it for a bit (especially if you're waiting for decent offers for the 860 & MB.)
As mentioned by Fudd Rucker earlier, the 860 is no slouch at all.

Yeah, my friend has had the i7 860 and i7 920 both to 4.0ghz and he said in gaming application start-ups performs the same, but i guess even though right now they may be at the same price but the resell value will probably be higher for the i7 920 and x58 combo later on...

I don't do anything else other than gaming from time to time...

Probably going to have this decided by tomorrow.

price it out at ncix it's cheaper for the 920 as long as you don't want a 400$ board then your good. which is not needed

performance is about the same but
if you wanna crossfire or sli get the 920
if you wanna overclock past 4.2get the 920
if ya wanna just save $ get the 860
