Default System Upgrade

I know, long time since I last posted. I have a tendency to register, post a bit, then disappear.

Anyhow, I'm looking at upgrading again...never managed to do it last time.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Asus P5N32-E SLI nForce 680i
Super Talent T8UX2GC5 DDR2-800 2GB
Western Digital 500GB SATA
LG Super Multi SATA DVD-RW
NZXT Hush Chassis

That's currently the plan, but I'm looking for comments and opinions before I actually buy it, I don't want to get screwed over.

Enermax Liberty 500W
NZXT Trinity
Thermalright Ultra 120

Yeah, not the greatest machine. Massive upgrade soon :).

Looks good to me, planning to upgrade your GPU?

Oh, I didn't update my signature, I recently upgraded to a GeForce 7800GT, bought it off a buddy of mine.

Smart upgrade! I might switch to the evga 680i as I'm very happy with their service, lifetime warranty, and you can pretty much do anything to the board without voiding the warranty.

I'm still contemplating that. I've read equally good and bad things about the eVGA board and the Asus board, so I'm really not sure what to get, which is why I posted here .

All of the 680i boards have had issues, but evga's support and frequent bios updates have been second to none, and their overclocking prowess has become almost legendary- chalk me up as an evga fanboi (and I do own an ASUS commando)

I don't find evga having any better of bios updates than Asus does. The p30 bios was around for quite sometime before they released another bios.

The system you have listed is good but I'd choose a different case and memory to go with but that board you have choosen is a good board. I currently run it with my e6600 overclocked to 3.4ghz stable.

Yeah, I've been looking at some other cases. I was originally going for the Antec P182, but $150 might be out of my price range, I'll have to see. I'm also contemplating the Sonata.

Go with something more like the tj04 or the coolermaster cm 690 with a corsair power supply and end up happier in the end.

Did you see the $89 lian-li in this week's HWC deals from NCIX???? :)

May not be the shiniest case on the shelf, but they're built like a tank!!!!
