Default BFBC2 Bottleneck?
Hey HWC,

I wondering if my processor is bottlenecking my 9600GT. When i'm play BFBC2, my AMD 5200+ is at an average 80-90% load while according to Precision tool, there is only 60-70% load on the 9600GT.

Is the AMD 5200+ a bottleneck?

PS: my CPU is overclocked to 2.9GHz from 2.7GHz.

Are there any tips and tricks for smoother gameplay in BFBC2?

I'm playing @ 1280X1028; 1XAA; 4XAF; everything on medium besides Texture, which is on High.

Yeah plays pretty bad for me too with my i7 at 4.2GHz. I'm hoping its just due to it being a beta. Can max out all the settings at least. Medium with 2xAA/AF is fine though.

I put everything to the lowest, except resolution.
Even with -fullproc and some other tweaks, still chops occasionally.

It is a beta so there might be improvements in the final release. I can run everything max except HBAO(or what ever it is called) and it is smooth but just barely. The CPU is probably a bottleneck but it wouldn't hurt to upgrade the GPU as well. This game is both CPU and GPU intensive but at higher res more GPU intensive. My second system plays the game just fine maxed everything at 1920 x 1200 so as you can see more GPU intensive than CPU because the E8400 is able to keep up with my i7.

I think, at least for me, another issue is that I'm always on European servers. No idea why it connects me to those, should pick something more local IMO.

Yea going to play now sucks, look for the ones with only 2 digit pings. It makes an incredible difference.

I don't think you are bottlenecked. You CPU would bottleneck on newer cards, but I don't think with a 9600gt. I could be wrong.

With Jackquelegs post, i gained ~5 fps from adjusting the settings. Made a huge difference.
