Default Quick Question About Motherboard PCI-E

Okay, so I have a EVGA P55 FTW and my question is, when running a single video card, does it really mater what PCI-E slot I use? I have seen some people put the cards into their bottom most slot multiple times. However, wont the card only run at x8 as aposed to x16?

I believe most if not all P55 boards will only run the second slot at 8x. The real question is whether or not it makes a difference, and the answer is usually not.

What would be the best way to test this? Pop the card into the x16 lane, play a game, and than swap in down into another slot, play a game, and compare FPS?

Run GPU-Z. It will tell you the number of lanes the card has access to.
