Default X48 DS5 and crossfire

I own an X48 DS5 and I am considering to buy an ATI 5850.I would like to know to which extent can my mobo handle a crossfire raid with two 5850's as a future prospective.I would prefer an exact,to the extent this is possbile, answer so please try to refer to whether it supports CF descently or very efficiently, poorly etc.
Thanks for your time.

But,in order to take full advantage of the second VGA,maybe it has to be able to run them without slowing down the second lane to 8x,which is something I am not sure it won't do.Moreover, does it need innate support of the 5xxx series in order to support them in crossfire raid(cause they are very new compared to the mobo's manufactured season)? Thanks for checking it up.

no it does not need anything for crossfire 5XXX and it is 2 x 16 pci-e lanes . so there is full speed pci-e x 2 for crossfire.
