Bingo. there all guessing saying if it looks ok it should work . the looks of a chip don't mean anything it's how hard the stop was from the fall.
the only way to find out will be to test it end of story
( the reason i said dead is because if i drop a cpu on the floor off of my table or from table height i don't really expect it to work afterward's. so when i try it out if it works then great if it doesn't then i am not that pissed cause it my fault ) good luck on your build

I'll bet it's OK though I suppose depending on how it landed it's possible he might have cracked the die. Only one way to find out....

Would really like to see the if the CPU is still working. I would be amazed if it did, but at the same time, the chips are packed so it might still be functional.

Most likely no problems.

At any rate, Intel's RMA process is A++++, would recommend again!
I've RMA'd about three CPUs with Intel and every time it was very very very quick turnaround (granted I two-day ship it to Intel).

I would say it most likely survived because of the short distance, it is very light, and is built strong. Now it could easily have a small micro fracture that could render it more useless than a coaster. Although CPUs are fun to take apart......
