Yeah I hit about 4.2 on my E8500, but wasn't stable. Pretty sure it was the nvidia board holding me back. Used an E8400 in a buddy's pc, gigabyte board. Overclocked it higher on less volts. Could've been the board, who knows.

its probably the board, jcmd. I could barely get my q9550 to 3.8 stable on my 780i, but then i got the ud3p and i can get the q9550 to 4.3 at a much lower vcore (1.28) (780i used 1.38) stable.

thats normal
all nvidia chipsets need more vcore and cant come close to the ud3X in quad clocking

Wouldn't surprise me. Although, the 790i's look decent compared to 780i.

only better thing with 790i is higher fsb but still needs alot more vcore

Can't get my E8400 to get through a 3dMK06 run at 4.2 Ghz...for the life of me....780i Board!!!
Could be the SLI arrangement though I suppose...

neither, those are things of the PAST.

Time to wait for 32nm dual or I5 Quad all the way
