Default ASUS P6T vs ASUS P6T Deluxe V2

Is there any main diffrence ?
I understand the Ram can go to 24gb when they come out but 24gb is stupid
12gb is enough for me but performence wise is it any better apart from the £60 price jump

V2 doesn't have SAS controller...

V1 can still use 24GB RAM, it was a BIOS update...

That is the only difference that I know of

Judging by the recent BIOS updates, they were having troubles with the SAS controller... which I think is why they threw in a V2 without saying anything, that excluded said controller (w/e the hell it is) other than that, the board is pretty much the same thing.

EDIT: Disregard this post

I think there are a lot of people that have had great success with both boards; ASUS is a manufacturer with a reputation for solid products, and their x58 boards definitely support that.

From what I can discern from comparing the board specs on Newegg, the vanilla P6T trades in a pair of USB ports and a gigabit port from the Deluxe for an extra PS/2, as well as an extra two SATA ports (on a different controller, bringing the total up to 8). It also seems that the vanilla allows you to run your PCIe slots in 16/16/4, while the deluxe can only do 16/16/1...

It seems that the vanilla P6T might actually be the better decision

The rampage 2 extreme is just that.. extreme.. it's just extra features that you'll probably never use (overclocking buttons right on the board itself)

And because of these buttons, the board actually extends another inch in the horizontal direction, which could be a problem to fit in your case (won't fit in my case)!

As far as overclocking potential goes, you will be limited by other factors (likely heat) before you're limited by the P6T series of boards...

Therefore, not really worth the extra cash!

There should be no discernable difference in graphics between any of the boards, as they all require discrete video cards. The Rampage basically bumps its onboard sound to a PCIe 1x card, and gives you a few more "enthusiast" options making it a bit easier to measure and monitor voltages, etc. Not worth the price difference IMO, and I think the P6T has even been shown to beat it in benchmarks.

If you don't need SLI and are happy with 6 Sata ports, save your money and go with an Asus P6T SE.
