Default my cpu is loud

it happend sometime now my cpu start acting strange. it will have extremely loud noise when boot up....... 10 folds louder than ati's vacuum noise.

after load to desktop, the noise will lower but still loud. when opening apps the noise will go extremely high again.

i have cleaned the cpu fan and still same.

i suspect that my cpu is getting weak? due to encoding too much? i have been doing lots of video encodings pretty much. is it posible due to that?

any tips?

never overclocked before

Look at the sitting and the thermal paste. Your cpu cooler is a PVM so fan turn faster if CPU is hot. If this not fix try a look at the bios settings for the fan.

Think your right martin_metal, it sounds like the fan on the heat sink is being kicked up to full RPM, which is loud, in efforts to reduce the temperature of the CPU. You may want to clean off the current thermal paste and reapply a new amount as over time thermal paste "dries" out and becomes less conductive of transferring heat.

I highly doubt your CPU is getting weak. Maybe you have a dying fan or something.

Also take a look if the heat sink is clean. Sometime there is like a breed and air can't go in anymore. Every day customer come tell's us my computer reboot or lock up and it's because of this, not enough air go in the HSF and it get really hot.

My gf was having an issue like that.
It ended up being a dirty HSF and video card fan.
Both were speeding up like crazy when she booted up.
Cleaning everything out good fixed it.

What does it sound like... perhaps it's the hard drive and not a fan? Doesn't make sense that the fan would speed up/ slow down like that just from opening applications... and the hard drive would be working hard during boot up

Constant sound or fast ticking?

well i opened the case and put my ear to hear each component. the hard drive is low sound and its the wd green caviar. the video card low sound as well. now the cpu.... yup the loud noise is coming from the cpu/fan/heatsink.

it sound like.... rapidly. sound extremely high when opening apps or even when browsing to other sites it will have high noise for a sec then down back. open video editing and it will go vroom again. not sure how to subscribe the sound. it is like fan sound.

What kind of HSF is it?
What are your temps like?
Install Realtemp and have a look.
Maybe even have a look in your BIOS.

If a good cleaning doesn't fix it try a little bit of oil on the fan.
If that doesn't work... try another fan.
