I hope that was emphasized enough.

Let us see...maybe ASUS will charge you $40 for the repair. Maybe charge you $5 for a $0.50 CAPACITOR. Plus shipping. Maybe $60-70 to fix a $100 mobo so up to you if you want to go that way.

Check the capacitor that you broke and you will see it's rating in micro, nano or pico Farad. Get the same. Orientation is no problem, see where all the red stripe goes? I believe that's your negative side, just orient it to the top of the board and solder away. Shouldn't be too bad.

Calling the shop a loser was uncalled for. It was an honest mistake on your part with a hint of carelessness, as mentioned.

But I would try to fireup the rig first with the broken cap just for fun.

He'll also need to find a similar tolerance capacitor as well seeing as it will be rated for x amount of voltages and if you get one that is too low you could blow the cap again. Also, these caps ARE POLARIZED, meaning if you put them in backwards you could blow the cap

The guy was making accusations that shouldn't have been made. I have sub contracted myself out for various ever since I was fifteen and never once did I ever treat a customer that way. you are supposed to give the customer the benefit of doubt . you also don't jump to conclusions you need to know all the facts .It is very poor customer relations. if the person would have said in a more appropriate way and not made these accusations I wouldn't have judged them that way , I found out that they have had other complaints that have been written into the local paper about them, I just wished I would have known about them before.

That's a legitimate complaint. You don't like the way you treated you then put that in your review.

I broke a capacitor off a mobo myself once. One of those cheap cases where the expansion slot covers are stamped out as part of the case and you have to wiggle them out, breaking them at the tabs. Of course there was a capacitor in front of one. Poor placement yes, but still my fault.

He asked what the part was called, was told in the very next post, yet still keeps calling it his funny made up name.
