Upgrade Question

I have a Asus Commando motherboard and a Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.40ghz cpu and I would like to upgrade from there.
A friend suggested I get a P5N-D motherboard. Does that sound good?
As for a cpu I have no idea.:help:
I will be upgrading to a eVGA GTX 275 at the same time as I upgrade my motherboard and cpu.

My current setup is:
case is antec tower 900

Much better off with an Intel P45 chipset, unless you absolutely require SLI support. And if you do, I'd probably go with an EVGA motherboard then.

Something like the ASUS P5Q-E or P5Q-Pro or Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P or UD3R would be my choices.
