My System Specs

I've got an Asus Z8NA-D6C with two E5520s on it and 12GB (6x2) of DDR3-1333 Kinstrong ValueRAM, ECC but not registered (that'd double the RAM's price). If you're running VMs, I'd suggest going with 24GB of RAM over 12GB of RAM, in which case you're going to need registered ECC 4GB sticks. Not cheap though (I think $800 per). Or just try to get away with only 12GB (I know 12GB is fine for what I do right now, I'm light on VMs as I'm running this as my workstatin).

if you can swing for the X8DAi or the X8DAH+ do it, they are both great boards.

If your trying to save some money and only need 1 full PCIe 16x slot, look at something like the

Newegg.ca - SUPERMICRO MBD-X8DAL-i-O Dual LGA 1366 Intel 5500 ATX Dual Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5500 sequence (Nehalem-EP processor) Server Motherboard - Server Motherboards

You can't go wrong with the SuperMicro boards.
