If you are asking for a motherboard manufacturer, I would say Biostar is the most under rated.

i couldn't of agree more with you. altho the warranty sucks, 1 year compared to 3 years on other boards. And those 3 year and lifetime warranty is what makes people buy those other boards.

Just like how most nVIDIA manufacturer offer lifetime warranty.

I find ECS is decent too, they make some nice little boards for budget builds

Overrated? ASUS, BFG, EVGA, Corsair

Underrated? Gigabyte, G.Skill, ATi Linux Driver team(not ATi as a whole), Samsung's HD division.

Also, just because I think somethings overrated, or a name is overrated, doesn't mean I think their bad. When it comes to video cards, if I'm buying nVidia, I almost always go with EVGA, 90% of my motherboards are ASUS, and I often times use Corsair Dominator ram.

When I think of overrated, I speak of products and company that often times gain way too much praise, and at times demand way too much of a premium when their product may not be "all that".

Heh, I'd say Asus could almost fall into both categories. On one hand, they've been over-pricing some of their stuff pretty badly lately, and using marketing speak to try and justify it. But on the other hand, there are more than a few enthusiasts who consider them too mainstream, and seem to go out of their way to avoid their perfectly good products.

I think the two most Under Appriciated Boards out there are,

Intel - If your not going to Overclock ever, then grab one of these. They last for Years and years and years, with no issues whatsoever.
Heck, I've got two Old Intel Boards (478's) at my Fathers house that have been running since they were manufactured. Still going Strong.

Foxconn - They are the OEM for a lot of people (including Dell) and they are very reliable and decent overclockers to boot. A good Choice if you want to avoid a lot of the mainstream.

My thoughts at least,

ST

I can't really give any overrated, underrated companies because each one has their perks.

What I can say is that EVGA, XFX, ASUS and Intel and Western Digital have produced great products for my home. Strong, reliable and fairly cheap.

Gigabyte: Underrated. Especially their P45 and X58 boards

ASUS: They are what they are. A great manufacturer with a website designed in the early 90s

DFI: Slightly overrated IMO. Without a doubt, they release some amazing boards but the shine of the s939 glory days has mostly rubbed off.

MSI: Not quite sure about them since I haven't touched one of their boards since the early Neo 2 days.

Foxxconn: Absolutely overrated. They have people post info about mythical products which are so limited in their release North America will be lucky to see even a single shipment.

Biostar: Underrated. They caught a bad rap some time in the past and are working very hard to become a premier player.
