i specifically said "fully" support to address this.

i've always been an amd fan ever since my first tbird 1.33. when i needed to replace my x2 3800 @2.8ghz last fall for something faster intel was the only option.

so far i've been totally thrilled with my intel and i will only change back when amd offers something superior. right now they just don't so i don't recommend them to anyone except my clients who buy dell and wouldn't know the difference between the two.

AMD bashing? = not allowed in the AMD forum. Offer constructive comments and support his choices once he's made them. I'm sick and tired of every "speed freak" instantly bashing every AMD build that comes up just because CURRENTLY theyre not the fastest processors. it's his choice, not yours, so everyone should stop suggesting that all AMD builds be dropped in favor of Intel ones .... Anyways, please help him on his build and leave anti-amd comments in your own thread marked "intel". The AM2+ processors that his system will be compatible with Might Just Shut y'all up, hehe.

i appologize. i didn't realize this was the amd forum. i was a long time amd fan but i'm more a fan of what is best for the money. i was in no way bashing them so perhaps your comments are a bit harsh. clearly if he had made his decision on his system he wouldn't be posting here for comments. i'm not a speed freak but if you could get a audi rs4 for the same price as the a4 why would you get the a4? (assuming the a4 uses the same amount of fuel as the rs4)

side note - i lost faith in amd when the much hyped hd 2900xt failed to even come close to the hype. i waited 6 months thinking my amd wouldn't let me down and it flat out did. now i'm seeing the EXACT same thing happen with barcelona. i'm not saying i'm right i'm just very reluctant to count my chickens once again.

Mmmmm, chicken. Thats a mean thing to say to a guy that hasnt had lunch yet, hehe. Anywho, im still holding my "cards" until the AM2+ 's and AM3's come out. As for Mr. Duce if youre still getting the 6000+ i can tell you its an awsome processor - and at around $250 bucks its at a very nice price point considering the intel equivalents can be 50-150 dollars more. Enjoy!

Il Duce don't under estimate importantance of good case and proper PSU for building a HTPC. You don't want to be cranking up the volume to drown out the box while watch TV. And it wasn't overclocked either.

Take that from some one that learned that lesson.

My HTPC
Athlon64 AM2 4200+
Asus M2R32-MVP 580 chipset(Crossfire dual x16 PCI-Ex)
Crucial Ballstic PC6400 1Gig
OCZ Game Xstream 600 watt
Zalman CNPS9500 AM2 CPU Cooler
Antec SLK1650B Solution Series case
Sapphire X1900XT 512Meg (second one in another box for the moment)
Sapphire 550 Pro Theartix

My first built of this box, the cheap case had dual 80mm exhausting and single 80mm input, the PSU(500watts) had sinlge 80mm. The box had crap airflow which caused the fans to wind up to a very annoying noise level.

After changing the case(single 120mm exhaust and single 80mm intake) and PSU(single 120mm) it's so queit you forget that it's a PC running.

Antec Smartpower PSU are all right for light duty machines internet surfers, mediaplayers, and office type stuff but you should consider stepping up to a beefer PSU for gaming.

Cheers

Would have gone a different route than AMD for a new build and also went with a dx10 card for sure.. By the way I have 3 AMD system's here at home. Am not bashing anything is just not a smart buy right now as faster can be had for the same money...
