idle temps for Q9550

I was wondering if the idle temps for my Q9550 were okay. They are 43, 37, 44, 42. It just seems odd that the one core is so much lower than the others. Is this normal? Any help would be greatly appreciated .

If you are using the vendetta 2 in your rig description these idle temps are the **** high! look at the sitting and reapply tim. You proc should be around 29 to 31 ( mine @ 29 at 3.8Ghz ) But the difference between core temp are ok that's normal that the core 0 and 2 are higher than the 2 other. If your chip is cooling corectly it's just because you get a bad batch of silicon and can't do nothing for this sorry. you can to get a backplate for the Vendetta, Xigmatek is doing it realy well that can help for better sitting because of the weight of the heatsink.

Idle temperatures means nothing for 45 nm CPU's.
Take RealTemp and run a half an hour of prime95 Small FFTs then tell us your maximum temperatures.

Those temps are a bit high but nothing to be worried about.

You have to take into consideration ambient temperature as well. You sitting at 29-31 probably means your ambient temp is much lower than his.

Also fans and cpu hsf will make a diff too.

On both of my Core 2's , I've had up to an 8 degree difference in Temps.
Usually when You load up the cores it evens out.
Run Prime 95 and see if they level off under load.
That is usually normal, what you see as well because even when your comp idles there are processes happening , and one or two of the cores handle those , so naturally they will be higher temp.

Ambiant temps make a a huge difference, I dont see my Q9450 off of load a lot, but I know that 100% load temps can change from as low as 52 degrees to 65 degrees (for my highest core which is core 0) depending on the ambiant temps. Core 3 is always the lowest running almost 10 degrees less. I've discovered that the diff in temps sucks, but isn't a problem.


ps. The backplate for the vendetta 2 is highly recommended!

Okay I ran prime95 for 30 minutes. My max temps are 58, 53, 58 and 56. Just so you know I do have the backplate and am running a scythe s-flex g on a fan controller at 50% or so. I am using mx-2 tim.

If you used SmallFFT for that test and those are your temps you are fine.

Yes that's the test I ran. And that's good to know because I was a little concerned. This site is great thank you for all the help.
