The future is in multi threading and the more people that buy quads means the sooner it will be supported more.

How long do you intend to keep saying that?

Seriously people have been saying that stupid line for 3 years and nothing has changed. Dual Core is still better than quad for most tasks and it doesn't matter if everyone started buying quads or not.

Some people even said something similar about the dual CPU PPC604 machines made by Apple in the mid 90s...
But then Apple started offering more in the way of dual CPU action in summer 2000 and it kinda just grew to the point where only the lowest of the low models of tower only had single CPUs.

Well there are already a lot of multi threaded apps out there and a lot of 64bit ones too. So it is adapting just VERY slow in the gaming industry. Most applications other then games take support of multi threading. So I don't know what you are arguing about. Also like many times stated before on your average computer you should see an improvement with a quad because like me a lot of people like to multi task. So if you run multiple stuff at the same time plus game you should notice a difference. I don't know why it is taking so long to code multi threaded games because the 360 and PS3 both have multi threaded CPUs.

I think its going to be a while before we really see a huge change in the gaming industry to multi threading, most of the games which will release in the next year or 2 have been in development upwards of 3 years, they wherent planned to be multi threaded. Besides that gaming is still GPU dependant for the most part, multi threading wouldnt offer all that much more performance quite yet... Atleast I dont think so.

Where we see a good boost in performance from Quads is doing stuff in the back ground while gaming, burning DVDs, downloading... Only reason id move to a quad at this point is to lower my video encoding times

I like having a Quad because I am too lazy to turn off any of Vista's services and I allow 70+ processes to run all the time. A dual core suffers here but the Quad keeps chugging along. By the time games catch up to Quads the current crop of Quads will be obsolete and useless.
