My System Specs

Default X58....too many choices....

So my EX58-DS4 died last night, can't wait to get an RMA replacement.

Some boards I am looking at:

1. DFI X58-T3eH6. Was planning on buying this but I've heard reports that the bios is rather buggy and can be a pain to get to post. But it supports ECC memory, and since I would like to move up to ECC once 4GB DDR3 modules are out, this would be a nice bonus.

2. eVGA 132-BL-E758-A1. Great looking board. Have heard good things, but the fact that the NB has a fan is making me edgy. The lasts eVGA boards I've had were way too loud.

3. EX58-UD4P. Same layout as my Gigabyte board, which i like a lot. Same bios layout Leaning towards this because of these.

4. Biostar Tpower X58. Pretty decent layout. The most expensive board. Very ugly PCB.

Any other recommendations or anyone have experience with the boards above? Only requirements are the capability to run 2 videocards (SLI) and a PCIe soundcard, 6 DIMMs, easy overclockability (obviously), and prefer to be under $350.

Actually I can personally confirm that the NB Fan on the EVGA X58 is NOT loud at all.

I have one right here in my case. :D

I can only recommend EVGA though. I next door neighbor is RMA'ing his third DFI X58 board...I will ask him what model it was.

Does that NB heatsink give enough room for say the TRUE or the Noctua NH-U12P HSFs, or do you have to orient them so that airflow moves up?

Not at all. I have mine East/West and it fits fine. Mind you it DOES touch the MOSFET heatsink but so far it does not cause any problems. There is plenty of clearance from the NB as well.

Oh I have the Noctua BTW.

Asus P6t x58 is stable, bug free and a nice overclocker.

I'm running 2 video cards with the Asus p6t deluxe, with a PCI sound card... lots of room up top for a PCI e sound card.. Great board. Will make my i7 stable at 4.0 GHz easy.

O I forgot to add. I like to have actual support if my boards do die, so no Asus.

Actual support? Oh my.

Asus? Nah.
Gigabyte? RMA sucks. Well, at least mine did.
DFI? Don't think about it.
Asrock? hmmm
Biostar? Maybe.
ECS? Nah.
Foxconn? If you can find a board...
MSI? Good boards, don't know about their support though...

That leaves you:

evga
Intel
