Default How to disable CPU slowing down?

I have a asus P5E-VM HDMI and want to dis able what ever intel's equiv. of cool'n'quiet is. In AI overclocking setings I set the multi to 9x (E3110) and somewhere else I manually set the multi to 9x as well but CPUZ is telling me it's jumping between 6x and 9x. The chin-english manual desn't help much either. So what's this feature called in the bios?

Section 4.4.3 (page 4-21) of the manual shows the bios page with Speedstep settings. Under "Advanced" and 7th option down.

LOL!

Yeah I did... Seriously I've been in that page 100 times looking for something like this and I'd swear that the Speedstep option at the bottom of that list wasn't there, honest. Sure I couldn't remember off the top of my head it was called Speedstep, but I would've known it when I seen it. I know I set 'CPU Ratio Control' to 9x at the top of that list. I'll have another look when I get home.

BTW thanks Chris!

NP Biff. One thing too...as we all know, there is a chance Asus moved it to another menu in subsequent bios releases...

In any case it still ramps back up to warclock speed instantaneously when the demand called for

Here its C1E on P5Q vanilla

TM function is throttle down on to much heat, exceeding cpu thermal design

I have my unit warclocked but those two settings stay enabled.

That's gotta be it, since the speedstep option isn't listed in my BIOS. Thanks.

See I told you I wasn't crazy!

Why do you want to disable it? I've benched everything under the sun with it on or off and there is zero difference. And you save a ton of heat/power with it on.

That chip doesn't generate enough heat even under full load to worry about it, let alone the diff. of idling @ 2GHz vs. 3Ghz. I want to turn it off because I notice a little delay when flipping around the menuing on VMC, which I've noticed also coincides with the CPU core clocks jumping up and I wan't to see if disabling the speedstep gets rid of that little lag. It's not a big deal, just enough to notice and be annoying.
