The egg has had them at $150+shipping for the week-end, at $50 a core is it worth getting one now or wait it out for something else? Amd might release a BE 925/945 quad but then price would be much the same as the 940 be I would think. I wish I could find some good comparitive benches of the 720be vs x2 6000/6400.

Here you got a X2 7750 compared to the X3 720.
X2 7750 should be about as performant as a X2 6000.

Sa seba, thanks for the links, I kinda suspected the 7750 would be on par to x2 6000. Hows the x3 720 doing on u'r board, how high does the cpu multi go, did u notice a big difference from u'r oc'd 5000be?

Have it sitting at 3200 MHz right now, but will go higher as soon as I get the time for it. (working on the wifeys comp right now).
AOD reports 24 degree Celcius when idle (although I expect those values to be slightly higher in reality).

There is quite a difference to my 5000 be, which was clocked to 3.2 as well, as far as multitasking goes.
FPS has somewhat improved in Fallout 3 and Mass Effect, but in general I didn't notice much of a difference in games. (playing at 1920x1200).

Yesterday, I played mass effect while having nlite process my xp install cd, didn't notice any perfomance loss.
With my 5000 be that was a different story.

I'd go for it. Apparently a decent amount of people have successfully unlocked a fourth core, getting you a brand new quad for $150.00. Can't beat that.

I think I'll wait it out and see what happens with prices closer to May or so.
