Default Motherboard for a QX9650

Well my P5Q-E died today, and from what I have heard, ASUS's RMA takes a long time . I don't really want to be stuck with only my laptop for a long time, so I'm going to just get another motherboard, and sell my P5Q-E once I get it back from the RMA. I am planning on just getting another P5Q-E as it was a decent board, but if someone has another board they would recommend for a 45nm quadcore, I'd look at getting that board as well.

I've used the P5Q Pro & Biostar i45...love 'em both. My vote would be either one of those that you can find cheaper.

mmmm Biostar I45.

It's the only LGA775 ATX board I buy.

I've read a few places that it is extremely good for dual cores, but is mediocre for 45nm quads. I was also looking at the GA-EP45-UD3P that was reviewed here. Looks like a fairly good board.

Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P or Asus P5Q Pro gets my vote.

I've seen some fairly good results with 45nm quads through several dozen threads I've read about the Biostar. I'm actually looking forward to getting a Q9550 on this bad boy and see how it goes...performance with my average Q6600....well that's another story, however it's an average overclocking CPU not one of the golden ones.

Asus P5E, flashed to Rampage Formula. My QX9650 did 4.4 no sweat on that board. Best combination board / BIOS / chip I ever had.

Flash here: The Maximus Formula Thread - Help/OCing/Guide/Rampage conversion - XtremeSystems Forums. Scroll down to Maximus / P5E to Rampage convertion section.

I ordered the GA-EP45-UD3P. It sounded pretty good from the review (except needed better BIOS, which I am hoping is fixed). I have a GigaByte board in my HTPC that seems to work quite well, so I figured I'd try one of their higher-end boards and see if it as high quality. Thanks for all the suggestions!
