Looking for an am2+ mobo

Well i just got the ncix email with their deals and ill have about $250 total to spend when i put it in the bank tomorrow. What i need is an amd motherboard thats am2+, and supports athlon x2s as well as phenoms IIs. Onboard video isnt needed since i have both a 9800gtx+ and an older 8600gt. Preferably one with firewire just so i can actually make use of the port on my antec case lol, and not microatx i need something thats a regular atx board.

Really have NO clue what to look at when it comes to amd motherboards with all the 770 780 790 then about 4 different letter suffixes for each lol, so much simpler with intel.

Doesnt have to be at ncix, and if there are any bundles for say $200 that come with a decent processor, anything thats an athlon x2 5000+ or better really, this 4000+ is killing me

I would recommend the ASUS M3A78-EM. I have this board and it's Phenom II capable. It's not expensive either (about $100 at Canada Computers).

You could spend more on a higher-end board, but that's up to you.

I heard that the ASUS M3A79-T is a pretty sweet board.

My new Asus M3A79T deluxe rocks!!! 8+2 phase power, but its not the cheapest. quad PCIE, very well laid out. so far I am impressed and I am not a big Asus fan, but they may win me back with this board.

Hmm unfortunately the one is mATX and the other is pretty expensive lol, i COULD get it if i got my cpu online from ncix but thats still pushing it lol, id also like to get a new hdd since ive gotta put the 250gb one i have in here back in my old rig that im selling so ill be left with only 200gb space :(

Cheapest place for the 940 and M3A79-T is direct canada, comes to $512, free shipping, not sure if thats with the 5% gst added in yet though.

How good would the Asus M3A78-T work? It would only be $430 for both at DC. From what i can see it just has a cheaper heatsink setup and one less pcie slot but im probably wrong on that lol. Since both my cards are nvidia though the extra pcie slots dont mean a whole lot to me. Are there are really solid boards that would be alot cheaper because they only have 1 or 2 pcie slots?

Why not check out all AM2+ boards in NCIX or DC or Newegg so you can see for yourself if the board is uATX or ATX? Pick one and google for reviews. All of them were cheaper when the Canadian dollar was at par with the US dollar.

A 770 chipset will take Phenom but it is limited with HT. 780G or 790GX is the way to go in my opinion, though they both have onboard video you can disable them anytime. A $120 board and 7750 will fit in your $250 budget.

The DFI 790GX board with the SB750 is supposed to a real gem DK790GX, my DK 790FXB rocked until my old PSU decided it was time to go, and bring friends along for the ride.

well my budget is now $560 including taxes, unfortunately directcanada only accepts credit card or paypal, so i would have to wait 6-8 days for an echeck from my bank to clear THEN wait for it get here :(

Anyone know of an online retailer thats fairly cheap and accepts payments directly from a bank?

Ahh thanks for reminding me about ncix lol, i had looked there and saw that the one motherboard is $265 which is $30 higher than new egg, then remembered their price match when i went back. How exactly does price match work though? It says to make your payment immediately to process the order, yet it tells me not to pay until the price match clears. If it doesnt clear i wont have enough in my bank lol
