Default Can we expect a price drop for the Q9550 ?

Do you think we can except a signifiant price drop for the Q9550 till Christmas since the new released Core I7 920 is acutally a bit cheaper than the Q9550 but perform way better..

I don't think they would drop a lot. They will probably drop once AMD's desktop offerings are released in January/February. That's just my opinion...

I wouldn't expect much from any of the Canadian e-tailers since they are enjoying gouging the prices to the max for every possible reason they can invent and create.

I can tell you first hand and totally honestly its not the e-tailers gouging. Its the suppliers. Our exchange rate weakens and they dont hesitate to raise pricing, however they are still giving us pricing based off of a 60c dollar. Its criminal.

Oh the distributors are gouging but so are retailers that raise the prices on current stock that was purchased at lower prices. Anyway, flogging a dead horse. Apparently Intel has announced a 65W version of the Q9550 (as well as some others in their 95W offerings) so pricing may be iffy for a bit. I also see that Intel has pulled the usual ploy of announcing their new lines, in this case i7 will be one price (usually high) so people will buy out the older processors to save a few bucks, and then actually release the new product at a price significantly lower than usually expected to grab as many early adopters as possible.
Obsolescence is just a lack of imagination.
