Looking at how Intel's lined up the three candidates, I can't believe it wasn't on purpose. So far, the motherboards seem to be hitting their BCLK limits right around 200, +/-20MHz, which means that a 920 MIGHT have trouble cracking the 4.0Ghz limit, even if the processor can do it. Whereas a two-higher multi of the 940 will give you a much higher chance of breaking that magic number without peaking out your BCLK. So it may actually turn out that the extra cash actually shows some returns. Kind of like the non-extreme 45nm quads, where the FSB limitations often make the higher multis provide real overclocking benefits. Of course, anything you save on the 920, you'll spend on the X58 motherboards.

Correct me if I am wrong, but seems no other chipsets (p55 ?)will be available before many months ?

Ram wise, I am not I understand the relationship. To get to about 4ghz, what ram speed will you need ?

The prices you guys are getting for the i7 gear are pretty good Starting to look like a worthwhile step-up although the ATI cf performance is crap from what I've heard. Anyway hopefully there will be worklogs and performance reports.

I must resist too. Although I don't think it would cost too much if I could sell all my old parts (cpu, mobo, ram) for a decent price. But I will wait.

Yeah NCIX has some pretty good deals plus if you buy the CPU from them (and it is in stock) you get some free games with it which you could sell. Also the motherboards are the cheapest in Canada that I could find.
