Older E8400 OC Voltages

Hi all, I know thier has likely been a few threads on this, but thought I'd quickle throw this out thier.
Over this past 7 months I have pretty much settled on an OC of 3.6 Ghz @ 1.275v set in BIOS, everything is fine. However, I wanted to see more and had been at 3.8 Ghz for the past month, pretty hefty jump in vCore was required to attain a Prime95 stable system, had to go up to 1.356250v (upper limit of Intel specifications), everything was fine.
I have since replaced my 8800GTX with a GTX 260 FTW edition (further OC's beyond FTW specs) and have been running my CPU at 4.05 Ghz.
I tried pretty much all Voltages between 1.356250v and 1.45v, with 1.45v required to attain Prime95 Stable (short FTT for 2 hrs and OCCT for 2hrs). I'm quite confident that if I went the 12 - 18 hrs blended things would be fine, but I get bored, ADD...hahaha.
Anyhow @ 4.05 Ghz:
1. FSB 450 Mhz Quad pumped vCore @ 1.45v, under Prime95 Load 1.39v Temps 54 - 56 celcius, idle at 37 celcius (Temps monitored with Core Temp and / or Real Temp, both identical values)
2. My Mushkin is unlinked and running at 1,000 Mhz 5-5-5-12 2T @ 2.1v

I guess I wound up with one of the "less voltage required chips" and am wondering:
1. Will the chip be relatively safe at the 1.45v and temps?
2. Would I get better performance by dropping my Mushkins to 1:1 ratio and running at 900Mhz instead of the 1GB (ratio 9:10)?

As I type this I'm waitng to see if I get reply back from DC Support, as I queried as to whether or not the E8500 they have for $210 is the EO version or not. I understand that NCIX won't take the time to check the box, but perhaps DC will.

1. I would say that is fine, just keep your VTT low.
2. Not sure, try it, test with PI.

1. Depends. Frankly I won't feel comfortable with 1.45V 24/7.
2. Define better performance. If it's SPi you must try, if it's real life zero differences.

Yes I've read many threads on the Intel recomendations, guess I'm searching for that "vote of confidence" that everything should be fine. You're right, the spec is the spec! For what is worth (extra 300 Marks benching) its not really worth it.
Back to 3.825Ghz @ 1.356250v!

Nothing wrong with 1.4-1.45 for voltage.

Has anyone else been running thier E8400's 24/7 with as much as 1.45v set in BIOS and no problems to report?

When I had my E8400 I was running it at 4.1GHz at 1.38V 24/7 with no issues.
I do not know why yours is at 1.45V.

because all CPUs have a vast difference of capabilities...especially at higher clocks. for example i can run 4250MHz stable at 1.30v under load with my best E8400...clearly not all E8400s are the same, nor is any model of processor. some E8400s aren't even going to even do 3.8GHz 24/7 stable on air let alone 4.1GHz stable at any voltage.

Exactly.

I could run my 8400 when I had it anywhere between 4.2-4.5ghz but after 4.2-4.3 temps would become pretty warm to the point I didn't feel comfortable and backed off.

If that chip had been under water .. 4.4 would have been easy.

My intent wasn't to get into a "my E8400 clocks at xxGhz with only xxVoltage" scenario. I KNOW what voltage it takes to get MY E8400 stable at 4.05Ghz (I know all E8400's are different, in fact I know their are some folks that need 1.4v to get stable below 4.05Ghz) I wanted to know if anyone has had any issues running their E8400's at vCore 1.45v (BIOS) 1.39v (under load).
