Default The Build is off! Wife put the foot down

I was told, not asked but told that I can't spend any more money on computer parts till after the wedding in July.

I guess I gotta pay for that first.

So I've been doing some thinking and well since I will be on a limited budget this is what I have come up with for a build.

Intel E6320 or 6600 Core 2 Duo (depending on price)
2 GB of PC-2 6400 (whatever is good at the time for the right price)
EVGA 680i SLI
600 Watt PSU (Probably Silverstone)
320GB SATAII Hard drive
22" LCD Monitor
I will be using my own case which I will mod

My System Specs

Default

oof! I suppose it's better to start these things off on the right foot

That setup looks pretty darned good for a consolation though. I would recommend trying to get the e6600 if possible. I'm not basing my opinion on much, but where the e6420 and the e6600 are the same chip now, and it seems like the 6420s are not getting the OC that the 6400s were- probably because the good ones are getting binned up to e6600- it really is just a crap shott when it comes down to it, but you pay for better odds by going up a step.

If I were really trying to save money- there's nothing that beats the $140 e4300 for overclocking value.

That sounds like a great set-up. But yeah like Shadowed said... The price will be better after July. But hey, i have traded my X6800 for a sweet overclocking E6400 and money. It can do 3.6Ghz with only 1.4v! I have my E6600 at 1.42v and 3.6Ghz now. I am going to need to sell one of those. If your interested, we could have a deal my friend!
