Default 80GB Intel X25-M Gen2 $259.

Newegg.ca - Intel X25-M Mainstream SSDSA2MH080G2C1 2.5" 80GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid state disk (SSD) - Solid State Disks

or the 160GB for $500
Newegg.ca - Intel X25-M Mainstream SSDSA2MH160G2C1 2.5" 160GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid state disk (SSD) - Solid State Disks

This is definitely the best price to performance drive out there now @ only $3.25/GB.

Does this mean you'll be lowering the price on your two first gens in the buy and sell?

It looks like prices have come down. That 160GB is tempting.

FYI

DO NOT SET BIOS PASSWORD... it can corrupt the second gen SSDs until Intel releases a firmware fix.

But its still a really good price and when newegg lists prices again you could price match.

I'm going to order a 160GB. I read they are even alittle faster then the first gen.

Dear Valued Customer, We were recently informed by Intel that one of their products may have a performance issue. Our records indicate that you purchased this product and Newegg wanted to take a proactive step by informing you of this information and providing the easiest way to resolve the issue. Below is the official response from Intel regarding their Intel G2 Solid-State Drive:

Dear Customer,

We greatly appreciate your recent purchase of the new Intel® 34nm (G2) X25-M High Performance Solid State Drive (SSD). Thank you. This notification is intended to inform you of a potential issue requiring your immediate attention.

Intel has identified an issue which affects users who use BIOS drive passwords with the new Intel SSD. If a BIOS drive password is set on the SSD, removing or changing this password will cause the system to become inoperable as the SSD will lose all data. Intel recommends you do not use BIOS drive passwords with this Intel SSD at this time. There is no issue using a computer, network or operating system password. In the event you have already set a BIOS drive password, do not disable or change the password. Intel has identified a fix for this issue, and will be offering a firmware update on the Intel support website within the next two weeks. Visit Customer Support Contact Information for the latest support information regarding this issue.

We apologize for any inconvenience and truly appreciate your business.

Regards,

Intel Corporation
