Default 120gb Vertex 228.99 after MIR

Seems like a pretty good deal for such a nice SSD: Newegg.ca - Shell Shocker Deal. Exclusive Jaw Dropping Savings on PC Components and Electronics.

Great Price - are these significantly slower than the Vertex 2?

While yes they are relatively "slow" compared to the Vertex 2. They have a mature firmware and are still bloody fast drives. They are my hands down favorite drives for non trim environments (Raid or older OS systems). Bloody fast drive and a killer first time drive.

With prices like this....it looks like its back to saying "if you only need 80GB get an Intel. If you need more space get the 120 Vertex!".

Assuming this sale is a sign of things to come (WRT the Vertex 1) I wonder if this will put more pressure on Intel to reduce their X25m gen 2 prices even more. :)
