My System Specs

Default Free Acronis True Image WD Edition

WD Support

It's free and thought I think it's pretty useful. I myself used to image my hard drives using Norton Ghost, but not anymore.

Credits for this deal goes to RFD.

Good to see WD jump on this. Seagate's Diskwizard uses Acronis as well. Does a full backup really well but you need to pay to do incremental on the free version.

Has anyone used this at all? Will it only clone to a WD drive? I use WD drives on my backup DAS, but if it can't clone to my SSD's it serves me no purpose.

The Seagate Diskwizard version of this same software only requires that one of the devices in use (the original or backup location) be a Seagate drive.

The manual for the Western Digital version states: "Acronis True Image WD Edition allows selecting only Western digital HDD as a restore location and for Cloning operation." Also states "Acronis True Image WD Edition is available for installing and launching only when a Western Digital HDD is connected."

http://www.wdc.com/WDProducts/Librar.../acronisum.pdf

If I'm reading correctly it looks like it will work as long as a WD drive is is use somewhere in the process.
