Default Phenom II 945 and MB as low as $199

Newegg is finally throwing Canada some of the deals you always see posted in the states. Newegg has dropped the price of the 945 to 199 which in itself is a great price considering a 940 is 20 bucks more but they have also included motherboard combos up to $70 off,

Newegg.ca - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

so heres a few samples...

945 and foxconn a7da-s 790GX is $264
Newegg.ca - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

945 and foxconn a7gms-s 780G is $217
Newegg.ca - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

and heres the kicker
buy a 945 and get the motherboard for free (foxconn a76ml-k) $199

Yea, the americans got the 955 deals, Its posted front page of slickdeals. Having no experience with phenom 2 but I think a decent board they'll probably clock about the same. I'm thinking we'll be seeing some deals on core2 as well with I5 coming out in a couple months.

the 2nd bundle you posted looks like a great candidate to upgrade my HTPC to PII , especially at this price.

Hrmmmmm.......

Considering I just dropped the coin on a PhII X3 720 last week, this couldn't have come at a worse time.... Although... my X3 was only $156, and none of the motherboards offered as the combo deals really peaks my interest, but I suppose I could have sold the motherboard for $50 and got the proc for $170.

I personally wouldn't be all that concerned about it not being a "black" proc..... I have purposely avoided doing too much research (I wanna have the fun myself), but my impression is that most OC work on the PhII chips ends up being done through bus speed increases rather than through multipliers.

Heh... it's been so long since I made a major platform purchase I'd almost forgotten to offer my standard "I'm buying one of these things, so members should wait a week or so before buying something similar because I can almost guarantee that prices will drop like a rock very soon after I pull the pin...." :) ).

Well if you can get that fourth core unlocked you'll basically have the same thing for 40 bucks less, with the bonus of a unlocked multi.
The boards they are offering up as combo's I dont think show up on anyones wishlist unfortuantely. Another option is to get a set of 2X2 GB reapers or ocz gold for $55 off so total of $225 or $222 for a 945 and ram.

Shit man, Any chance of getting some money back from the 300 I spent on my Ph2 when it was released?? This seriously blows.

Wicked deal on the proc - Ixnay on the foxconn mobo unless your just looking for a regular non overclocking system, 4 DIMM slots is a plus and 780G is a nice chipset for typical use.

Overall smokin hot given that the Proc alone is more expensive, though a 940 + Mobo + DDR2 would be practically the same price, given the extra cost of DDR3.

not bad 243 shipped @ taxed to my door w/ foxconn. will do very nicely for a temporay build. Guess mobo would be basically a throw away after upgrade.
