Damn, did sales on the board just tank or something? I hadn't thought they needed to offer any sales/packages on that particular board.

They're probably getting rid of the old Dominator RAM. I don't think the board is on sale. They're probably getting new stuff in with lower timings. Overall though this is a great chance to get high end i7 gear for extremely cheap prices. I would jump on that in a heart beat if I hadn't already gone i7 a couple week ago.

Yeah I think your right bojangles, clearing out ram not motherboard, although there may be a little discount on the motherboard I doubt either it or the CPU are where they are losing money here. Same deal as the Aeneon Xtune ram they clearanced a couple months back.

I have the Aeneon Xtunes right now and they overclock just fine, not on tighter timings though you have to downclock a bit to tighten timings but I had mine up to 1980mhz without an issue at 1.55v.

When I posted they had stock =(

Good price for premium brand parts. I would break it down as:

$100 - Corsair XMS3 Dominator 6GB - TR3X6G1600C8D
$300 - Intel Core I7 920 D0 Stepping - BX80601920 - D0
$400 - EVGA X58 Classified - 141-BL-E759-A1

Somethings to consider..

1. RAM - You can get similar performing ram for $100 - Corsair is awesome reliable though
2. Core I7 920 - Was on sale before for $300 including random D0 from DELL.
3. Board - The regular price of Classified a little over the top.
Positives
- Lifetime warranty
- 4 full size PICE slots
- 9 internal SATA
- The A1 suffix Classified includes that ECP monitor thing and the NVIDIA NF200 chip allowing THREE 16x PCIE, 4th is PCIE8

Negatives
- If using 4 GPUs, at least one has to be a single slot and cant be taller than the others in a TRI-SLI + PhysX setup.
- A1 suffix classified runs a bit hotter than the A0 suffix (which doesn't use the NF200 chip)
- X58 B2 stepping boards probably now being dumped.

In perspective.. the high end Gigabyte EX58 Extreme has sold for sub $370, and Asus Rampage Extreme II for about $400..

So IMHO its just a GOOD deal if you're looking for something immediately. Otherwise Come this fall and new year there will be more options.

Wonder if this has anything to do with EVGA's two new boards coming out? They're both supposed to be positioned lower than the vanilla EVGA, but for a certain look, they're dropdead gorgeous. If there was a high percentage of people getting the Classified for its looks, maybe they think these new (cheaper) boards will steal sales?

Probubly MPG, they look to be some nice boards, but alot of people are buying the classifieds for more then just looks.

futures, that $300 920 sale only happened once and it was about a month ago, the chips have since been binned and the D0s dont sell for less then $350 right now, atleast I havent seen any..

The cheapest I have seen the classified onsale previous to this is $459, and even that is cheap, the fact that its 3x 16x PCI-E is great, also the motherboards layout is much better then others in this price range... Other then the 6pic-e asus board you wont find another board that can take 4 pci-es where the 4th wont have to be single slot... The board does have its problems though, like when water cooling the MCP/SPP can get pretty warm because of the passive cooling utilized, but its still a great motherboard.

With this deal your garranteed a D0 i7, which is pretty awesome, instead of having to PRAY for a D0 otherwise, the ram is meh ill agree but considering its normal price its not bad, the OCZ platimums are $100 and run the same speeds at Cas 7 timings though... Personally I think its an awesome deal, if presantly you can price match those parts within $100 of this price then ill change my opinion but for the price I dont think you could find a better deal.
