Default COUGAR Releases Challenger Gaming Case

COUGAR’s new mid-size tower is marketed as high-end, but can accomodate both small and large gaming needs.

The Challenger comes with just about every feature one would expect of a mid-size gaming case – cooling considerations, plenty of PCI slots, and enough space to cram it full of gaming power. However, COUGAR’s unique 3-mode drive cage concept is geared towards the idea of long-term upgrade capability. The drive bays all sit on an adjustable track mechanism. The case in its default configuration can accomodate graphics cards up to 300mm long. By relocating the cage assembly, an extra 30mm of room can be gained, or by completely removing the middle cage section the case can fit graphics cards up to 410mm in length.

Thoughts? I love the color scheme but the design.....ugh!

Typo - "Aggressively styled" should read "IN YOUR FACE styled".

I like orange, but I'm not a fan of this case's appearance.

One of the highlight features of the COUGAR Challenger is something that could be easily overlooked: a cover mechanism that must be lifted up before the system can be powered up, similar to the safety mechanisms on the missile controls of a fighter jet. First impressions may be imply this is simply a novelty feature, but COUGAR has applied the concept as a safety feature, to ensure there is no accidental pressing of the power button during heated gaming sessions.
What? Never, not once, have I ever 'accidentally' pressed the power button on my tower by accident during a heated gaming session. Keyboard start menu key, yes (I now have a keyboard that locks out the win key...that is actually a useful feature), but never the power button.

I suppose if a 'heated gaming session' involved doing the horizontal tango on top of your computer case, then yeah, I could see why that button cover could come in handy.

Heh... yeah it's not for me. I also predict that the safety switch feature will eventially start causing boot/power issues a-la the issues I had with the soft-switch on my cosmos-s.

I should add that it would have to be 'midgets', or 'little people' doing a bit of the ole in 'N' out, since it isn't exactly a full-size tower.

Hmmm, this gives me an idea for a new case strength/comfort benchmark test. Sky, do you know any midgets?

You've obviously never seen some LAN sessions I've been too. The cases should be covered in Kevlar sometimes.. :)

But in all honesty you are right. I am all for Toggle Switches like in a Helicopter just for a cool factor, but not that.

Then again, I don't suppose there's too much 'riding the slippery dip' at a LAN party, and probably not too many midgets, either. So, once again...no need for that safety cover (I'm so sorry, the wife is still recovering from having a baby, I'm going crazy here)

Ignoring the slippery dip, my Raven sits on the floor and my 2-year-old daughter not only knows where the power switch is but likes to press it randomly.

I can't stand cases that look like transformers (unless of course it transforms into bumblebee, i could tolerate that)

I don't know what the folks at cougar were thinking. Do they have a 12 year old boy designing 'cool' looking cases in their labs or something?
