Corsair 400R + NH-D14??

Hi, I am planning to build a gaming pc which by using Corsair Carbide 400R and also a Noctua NH-D14.

And I wonder if NH-D14 can fit into 400R? If yes, is it possible to install case fan on top of the casing? as I know NH-D14 is quite big and I am worrying of spaces left after install the big cpu cooler.

nh-d14 doesn't overhang a standard atx board in any direction, so beside overhanging ram the only dimension worth looking at is how tall the cooler is. And it's short enough to fit in any non-low profile case.

Sorry, to be confirmed, do you mean that nh-d14 can fit well in corsair 400R?

Yes it should fit.

Noctua's nh-d14 spec's is 160mm tall. The 400r is said to have roughly 185mm space CPU-side panel.

I see ! WHere do you find this statement said that 400r have roughly 185mm space CPU-side panel? I've done some research and I never seen it before.

anyway, thanks a lot for your information, that means after nh-d14 is install, the top extra case fan can't be installed on the left panel as only a little spaces left. haha =)

Corsair Carbide 400R dimensions.

Carbide Series 400R:

Dimensions: 20.5” x 8.1” x 19.8”
Supports graphics cards up to 316mm in length
Six 120mm/140mm fan mounts
Four 120mm fan mounts
Includes two front-mounted 120mm fans and one rear 120mm fan

Carbide 400R

Case width:
8.1 inches width = ~205.74mm width

Noctua NH-D14 = 160mm height with & without fan.

Given there is space between the rear panel & motherboard tray behind there is also a space between motherboard tray to the side panel you remove to access the motherboard.
Therefore, you have ample space to fit your cooler & possibly even the side panel fan as there is some space in the side panel groove. :)

If I remember correctly most 120mm fans are roughly 25mm thick.

Thanks for that information ! I decided to get both of them and hopefully I can get them as I have source problem with Noctua which might not available in my area, going to find out soon. anyway thanks for the advice =)

I got a little question as well here, anyone here is using corsair 400R case with a Noctua NH-D14 fan in it? if yes can you still fit fan on top of the cooler?
I need to know and confirm this as I am ordering online and I can't afford have two times delivery fees, sorry =)
