Smile Cable management project

This is a WIP, I put in the Vanquisher when I upgraded my Proc to an AMD 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition, I think the next thing I do will be the HR-11 backside HS on the HD2900PRO I have, cheers to SKYMTL for that mention on NCIX.

Here's the current mess in my case it's a Cooler Master Elite 330. I'm going to do cable management on it this weekend. I'll U/L a new pic when I'm done.

If you have any suggestions or comments please do...

you can mount the hard drives backwards, I've done that and it works okay, but chances are those tooless things wont work with it. so you'll probably have to put 1 screw in there.

you want to be able to shove your cables in the back, for maximum wire management, cut some holes in the case at strategic points in the case. you want to hide the unused wires somewhere and try using the less possible and hide some over the psu if you have space or over your optical drives. or even behind the mobo tray.

thats all the tips I have for now.

I browse Hardforum with the rate my cables thread, it gives me ideas on how to place them.

Default Rate my cables thread...

Thanks for the tips Black, that rate my cables thread one threw me off until I got my head wrapped around your meaning. I was like, "Huh, what rate do my cables thread at?", doh! It's funny how a brain works, or doesn't...

I found the thread and it looks like I'll get some great ideas from those photos. I'll see about mounting the drives backwards I think I have space in front for the holes to match up and put the drive overhang up front in stead of back.

Thanks much.

Funny you should say that I was just eyeballing the CM690 since it's on the HWC deals list. I see you have one, how's the cable management?

Yeah that is a great case for the money. No, better than great, it is an absolute steal. Not sure about the cable management, but I can guess it will be more friendly than your current case.

Great for cable management and even better if you had a modular power supply. The power supply is on the bottom and you can tuck any wires you don't need either behind the tray or inside the tower for the hard drives at the bottom and use one of the plastic hard drive holders to hold the wires down :D

A couple of hours with it , and youll be fine, from here all i see is my ATX connector, a sata cable, the 4pin P4 plug and the PCI-E plug for the HD3870. ( I modded a window)

but you could definitly do something decent with your case, I've had a case with the same frame and the cable management was pretty good.

this is what I've acheived with my last case:

you can see how I put my hard drive on the other side.

Talking

Black, that's tight. Really clean. I like the panel window mod too, I'm thinking of doing that on my Elite because I had to take out the funnel that brought cold air to the stock CPU cooler when I put in the vanquisher which was too high. So now I have empty screw holes on the side which just messes with my fung-shway [sic].

enaberif/Vortex, I really like that 690. Unfortunately I just got the Elite as a present for christmas I can't ditch it without hurting feelings. I asked for a case because I had an Alpha 602Black case (Model) before that.
I didn't like the front ports on the side and the cheap HUGE power button. Also, originally this was a cheap $450 PC build to get Vista in the house but I decided to go beyond that after nearly buying an Apple iMac then coming to the realization that if I dropped even half of the $1800 cost into my PC I'd have a kick ass rig.

I'm just waiting on the oportune moment now to bring 'er down and get to reorganizing. I've got it fileserving for my 3 XBMC xboxes and everybody's watching TV shows or Movies off of it tonight...
