Antec 900 or Sonata III?

Theres simply no contest the 690 is great over the 900.

People only love the 900 due to a 200mm fan and thats it.

Well the 690 has 2x120 where the 900 has 1x200

If I had to choose between the 690 and 900 I'd go for the 690. I have heard many good things about it over the 900 from friends. The 900 seems to be a love it or hate it case though. So without actually building with both you may never really know which YOU like better. The front fan is oh so cool on the 900 but many complain it's all together cramped inside.

Me I have a budget Logisys SOHO case (no not the alienware rip-off) with tons of room inside. It's alum, built ok (could be better really but it was cheap) and I don't like the fact that the front fan is pulling air from a small gap below the front panel :\ But it seems to do a decent enough job and looks good to. Sorry babbling here...

k i have 900 and i have a8800gt in it and if u cable shove lol with a little patience then u can really have some room left over

reaverclan - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting reaverclan/Vista 64 bit system - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting but i have heard that the 690 is sweet iv seen one in person but never saw the inside:( so its your call but for cooling I think 900 wins. i also took the top off the 900 and unplugged the fire wire i don't use so i have more room in case.:) i put the top back though. and if u have a ton of hard drives then the rack system pretty much owns.

You only think the cooling of the 900 "owns" cause you haven't used a case that properly cools :) And the hard drive rack is annoying because every time you want to pull it out you have to open your case to disconnect the fan molex :P

Well..... The point about 2x120mm versus 1x200mm. Now, the NineHundred does´nt come with "just" a 200mm fan. In fact it has 1x200 and 3x120 fans installed, when you pull it out of the box. And it is prepared for a 120mm in the side. If one chooses to install a 120mm in the side (I have) then you are looking at 1x200mm and 4x120mm versus 2x120mm..... Hmm.... I´m no rocket scientist, I admit, but my gut-feeling tells me, that 1x200 + 4x120 MUST provide for better cooling, than 2x120. But then again, I could be wrong. All I know is, that my E6600 (with an Asus Silent Square) has a load-temperature of 51celsius, when clocked to 3.2 and is stable as a cliff. And that´s pretty fair in my book.

CM 690 has:

2 x 120/140 on the top
1 x 120/140 on the bottom
1 x 120 on the back
1 x 120 on the front
2 x 120/140 on the side
1 x 80 on the back of the motherboard tray

Total: 8 fans

Antec 900 has:
1 x 200mm on the top
1 x 120 on the rear
2 x 120 on the front
1 x 120 on the door

Total: 5 fans

And your wrong about the 1 x 200 being greater than 2 x 120 and the reason for that is there is a much larger dead spot for air movement on a 200mm fan than there is on a 120mm fan.

Well, the 900 came back into stock and shipped all while I was on hold apparently... NCIX really needs a better way to get a hold of them.

It was not in this morning, I said I would figure out a replacement, posted here, tried calling and leaving messages all day, finally got through, 900 shipped and on its way...

Ah well, hopefully its not too sh**ty a case...

At least it was only 50 bux

I honestly hate people like you who create a thread like this and then go against what everyone says.

Next time just buy what you want and don't bother asking for an opinion.

Enerbif, as you so bluntly stated, he asked for some opinions, and he got some. he didn't ask you to tell him what to buy, he asked for some imput based on experiences. why the attitude?
and as far as the 900 goes, your views have been clearly stated on more than one occassion. but i have to ask, with the popularity of the case, can so many ppl all be making bad choices?
oh yeah, and even after listening to you, he couldn't change his case in time after trying to.
not trying to get in a pissing match with you, but i think more ppl would be more receptive to the knowledge and experience you have to offer without the attitude laced with aggressive cynicism.

I just don't like feeling the advice given out went without a care and that he already knew what he wanted and just wanted to talk.
