You definitely could, but for me, the draw to the 700d over the 800d is:
1. The clean front panel (no HS bay door)
2. The lack of the HS connections plastic cover. - This gives more room between GPU card and HD cage, which is where I plan to mount my pumps.
3. It comes with the blank side panel already so I can just do my own custom window to start with.

I would really prefer to pickup a case a ta local store, but unfortunately no one seems to carry the 700d, so I may end up with the 800d anyway...

Yes, the whole mesh side has a very fine mesh filter underneath the steel mesh. I only dust my system maybe once every 3 months. I do clean the filters about once every two weeks though, and I personally haven't had any dust problems.

For water cooling I would go for the 800D, for air the HAF X is where its at. Although the HAF X can also be a great case for water cooling as well.
