Comment Thread for Silverstone Kublai Review
The review is up, the case is looking pretty good and I would love to hear your questions, comments, rants and raves.
Please post them in this thread
Looks like a nice enough case, although I agree with you that Price / features when compared to the antec offerings are something to consider.
As far as the positioning of the Power button goes.... If it were me, I'd just use the reset button for power, and leave the power button unplugged. (I can't think of the last time I used the reset button.... :) ).
The mesh is steel - removing it from the front fan assembly gives you about 30 rpm. The Kublai also lack the case speaker - I really missed those reassuring "Everything's OK" beep/boops which I've heard for 20+ years now (I seldom have my 2.1 speakers powered up while the system is booting)... Penny-pinching can be carried too far! You can move the HDD cage to any block of three bays within the nine available (the ports panel is movable too) so it doesn't need to be obtrusive to cards. The modern, short-chassis burners don't extend past the back edge of the 5" bay rack - well out of the way of most cards except for connectors. A little lack of imagination there, Sky. ;)
Good point. I really didn't try moving the HD cage as one of the screws was completely stripped for some reason. I think you can see the stripped screw in one of the pics but it is not clear....
So, I happily left that tidbit out but I will have to try it at home tonight since I picked up ontp of those "uber screwdrivers" today that is supposed to take care of stripped screws without a problem. :thumb:
As for the mobo debug beeps, you have a point there as well. I have not been using the onboard speakers for some time now so it really didn't occur to me.
This is why we have these forums, for people to ttell the reviewer when he is wrong!! :bleh:
I've still keep one of those "jumper speakers" around for cases which don't have their own speakers built-in. (I'm pretty sure it came off of an asrock board originally).
