Default Plexiglass?

Does anyone know where I can get plexiglass at a good price in the Toronto area?
Also what is a good pair of glass cutters?
Thanks
Ken

If your planning on building a case out of plexiglass, be prepared to do a lot of grounding. Plexiglass can hold a charge on its surface (like static electricity) and can short out components if its not grounded correctly.

Yellowpages under 'plastic'.

Plexiglass aka 'Lucite' aka 'acrylic' aka polymethyl methacrilate........

When you say glasscutter , do you mean for real glass or for plexiglass ?

Real glasscutters can be bought from most hardware stores......plexiglass is cut with a saw.

Lexan>Acrylic/Plexi IMO. Lexan costs more but it's lighter and more scratch resistant than plexi.

Lexan is superior without question. This is what I use when I need clear plastic.

'Acrylic' and 'plexiglass' are the same thing.

Woops, my bad. It sucks how much Lexan costs though.

I personally haven't had much luck getting small sheets for what I need. Most hardware stores carry plexi but its not only thick but pretty expensive. Got some 1/8" sheets at Curry's. Not the greatest price but at least it's a manageable size. Think Michael's carries some too but haven't ever found a store thats had it in stock. Bit off topic but has anyone ever tried to use the plastic covering picture frames at like Canadian Tire for a window? Funny thing is how some cheap frames are cheaper than buying a sheet of plexi

Ah you really don't want to source something like plexiglass from a plain old hardware store....seriously.....Yellow pages under plastic.

Not only will you be able to buy any type/size/thickness of plastic , but they have all the right tools to cut /machine it as well.

And it's not that expensive.A 1/8 " thick sheet of lexan the size of a computer case window won't cost more than about 30 bux.
