Newbie's first shot at cable management

So... I bought an OCZ Vendetta 2 the other day (everyone seems to be praising it here) and when I installed it I was kinda disappointed with the temps I got.

Reseated it a few times and still no change. So I figured I'd organize my cables a bit :D[IMG]file:///C:/Users/Aek/Desktop/SDC10744.JPG[/IMG]

A mile of tape, and a few minutes later and here is what I have :D



Too bad the temps still suck!


Tell me what you guys think and if you have any suggestions.

Oh and yes, I know that fat arse ribbon is hideous

ribbon cable should be folded into thirds lengthwise to reduce the ugliness.

Also you should try to run as many cables together as possible. Having one sticking out in the middle of nowhere like the molex that's going to the optical just draws attention.

See if its not possible to route the cables behind the motherboard tray and such.

hehehe, it does look pretty bad huh. I tried routing them other ways, but some of those cables don't seem to extend very far.

It's a 300 so routing cables behind the tray won't work unless I cut holes. I tried cutting holes in the tray with the knife i was using... lol, but that didn't work and I didn't feel like using power tools so I said F it. I really, only did this to improve the air flow through my case. But judging by my (still) crappy temps, it seems like I failed at that too.

I think I'll try folding it like you said linus, but then I'm not too confident that the cable will reach if folded. Initially, I was going tape the ribbon flat right onto the tray, but the tape wasn't strong enough to hold it haha.

You have the ocz mounted wrong. Turn it 90d so you can read the logo and the fan is at the front blowing towards the exhaust fan at the rear of the case.

Its an Antec 300 Squee, why is it a bad thing to point the HSF exhaust towards the huge top 220mm fan?

Turn the Vendetta to suck air from the front ( freshair ) if it blow everything from your hot VGA it's normal that your temp suck my friend:P

I personally think the OCZ is overated. I tried a Ziggy SDS964, S1284, S1283, Vendetta 2, and a Sunbeam core contact on my Q9450 and the Ziggys worked better and were easier to install. The Coolermaster Hyper 212+ is my new fave due to the price/performance.

Most of these are probably made at the same place with the same spec only the form of the spreader changing:P.

the Antec 300 have a 140mm fan at the top, not 220mm.
