Default Possible Custom Case Idea

I've always played around with the thoughts of making a custom case out of Lego. I grew up with it and still have a lot of it kicking around. I think it would be a great possible material to use since it would allow for total customization of air flow, cable management, etc for someone like me who isn't that handy with metal/wood/etc.

Now i have a new case right now so i don't think i'd be doing this right now, but am i crazy to attempt this in the future, and would/should i stick with a tower case design or a flat-top (dunno what the old one was called).

Theres actually loads of computers in lego cases out there, find a nice color theme to go with it and I think your set lol.

Please don't stick your i7 rig in that though, it'll even make little children cry

there are some lego bricks that are surprisingly clear, I think that would be kind of cool to make it out of.

Do it with every color:P it would be funny:) Also try to do a full tower but you willhave to find how to make a removable side panel.

Those ones are all over the net and well really look bad/tacky since it looks like it was just thrown together with no actual design or concept behind it

I was more thinking possible engineering it to have two removable side panels, or maybe the top even as well (old style tower case)

I may eventually, but for right now the i7 rig is staying in its current home since i got more years of university coming up and i want the thing to stay safe in a metal home

You should check this thread out, not sure whatever happened to the project though. I think he gave up on it, you might want to ask him why before getting started

Looks like it could have been a frustration thing, or life got busy type of thing. Only downside to my proposed eventual build is this is a couple years off. The positive though is during that time i can browse garage sales for people wanting to get rid of Lego at a ridiculously cheaper price then online (or i could have enough Lego right now, though i highly doubt that)

Edit: Though i would love to hear some feedback or ideas with my current project (to make it more, well awesome): http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...be-lights.html
