Silverstone TJ07 vs Lian Li PC-A70

So the story is I decided to go for a nice i7 build after my exams. Can't wait! I just need some help from you guys!

The only thing I can't decide on right now is the case. Now eventually this will be a watercooled rig but for the mean time its going to be on air. So I have narrowed it down to 2. Silverstone TJ07 and the Lian Li PC-A70. I'm really torn between them so If any owners have any pros and cons for me lets hear them.:thumb:

I'd say a bonus for the TJ07 is the ready availability of some really nice pre-modded addons via murderbox.com. Helps for those of us who aren't handy with metal work.

They both seem to be fairly similar for interior structure and easy to WC so...go with whichever appeals to your tastes more I'd say(I'd choose the TJ07):thumb:

I'll play the Lian Li card :)

Personally, I'd go with the a70... it's much more original than the dime-a-dozen TJ07 WC builds, and it's a more efficient air cooled case IMO. Lian Li has a lot of add-on parts too, all cheaper and more readily available than murderbox parts.

It's also less expensive.

Thanks for the reply guys. I know the TJ07 is considered one of the best for WC but I don't mind doing some simple mods on the LL to fit a triple rad on the top and a double on the front. I know that the cable management on both is supposed to be average.

The murdermod panels are sexy as long as not everyone with a TJ07 goes that route then it's just boring:haha:. I also like the minimalist look of the Lian Li.

Damn this going to be tougher then I thought on the verge of flipping a coin.

Have you considered HAF932? Looks like a good case for water cooling and not expensive. Here some pictures (I'm still in painting stage) : DazMode • View topic - CoolerMaster HAF932 Paint Job Step-by-step in pictures

I also considered TJ07, but somebody told me that it uses 92mm fans. Seems not a good choice as everything moves to 140mm already.

I know the HAF is supposed to be a good case but I'm looking for a high-end case. The less plastic the better!:haha:

Just looked at your worklog nice job. Personally for me the HAF isn't the look I'm going for but I can see why it is so popular. Cheers.

I got TJ07, and really like it for watercooling. Nice case, lost of space. Altough, if you want to fit a 2*120 MM rad on top, you will have to mod it since there is not enough space on top.

Fair enough. Less plastic is better, can not argue here.

I picked HAF because I want to try MONSTA triple rad with 140mm fans (and I have 3 of 140mm in HAF already supplied). My hope it will ran really silent. My current Antec900 is turboprop :angry2:

On another note... I don't understand the hype, I will never buy another case that forces me to mount the PSU on the bottom... it makes cable management much more difficult (my experience with the TJ09 was a b*$^#).

FtGF April 15, 2009 11:12 AM

Dazmode ya I know what you're saying I had an Antec 900 not a bad case I guess for its time. Seems the HAF is the new bang for the buck gamer's case especially for WC.

Liu the Lian Li def has more options it being such a huge case. I would still have to mount the PSU on the bottom though since I want to put a rad on the top.

Well I have a week to decide. Hmmmm......
