Cable Management Tips

I'm getting a new case soon [Gigabyte Poseidon] and I really need to learn cable management. I don't mind how long it takes, its fun working inside computers:biggrin:
There is defiantly enough room to rout cables behind the motherboard tray, this will be a nice feature to have. Not enough room with my little TT Matrix.

Thanks for any tips / pointers, they will all be appreciated by this cable management noob.

There isn't any really tricks we can tell you if other than, when you'll have your case, check out if you can hide cables behind the mobo tray, if not, then maybe behind the 5 1/4 rack etc... For some person, it's just a normal thing you know. I mean for some they'll just hide cables per reflex...

Also, you can use zipties, you can sleeve your cables, makes holes in the case (If absolutely needed) etc.. I have seen may rig over the net with ppls that made small squares to pass the cables and wires behind the mobo tray etc...

anyway, Have fun! http://www.hardwarecanucks.com//imag...4fedecee92.gif

The only tip I can add is that if you are trying to hide your cables use dark coloured cables like black or grey. That way if they are visible they don't stand out like neon or uv lol. Plan out beforehand where all your cables are going to avoid having to take components back out to hide a cable :) I always start out with good intentions then get impatient and want to fire up the rig as soon as possible lol. Good luck, and don't forget to post some pics when finished so we can see:thumb:

Thanks for the pointers and pictures! I'm getting an idea of what to do.
One of the features that sold me on the Poseidon is that it was made with cable management in mind, so they added room behind the motherboard panel and places to rout cables.

I'll be doing a review of the Poseidon v TT Maxrix, hopefully my new case blows my old one out of the water:thumb:

Cables sleeving is a MUST to make a neat and clean look. Also, Id suggest a powersupply with a modular cable management system (ex. Silverstone Strider series). These power supplies can have half the mess of standard psu if you work out your layout well enough (ie. keep all sata drives close together, ides drives close together, etc. instead of mixed groupings). Finally, ive had some good practice (if my cables are lnog enough) running any videocard or pci card power cables towards the back of the case, running them up towards the top of the case then tucking them behind the psu itself before connecting to it... Difficult, but looks very clean (no messy messy). Dont have a pic to show you though.... Anyways, hope it helps!
