My System Specs

Default High Contrast - Black and White X99 Build

After a long time rocking a water cooled 3770k and GTX 580 in a Corsair 800D, I decided it was time for a new desktop. This is still a work in progress (and already in its 2nd revision), but I figure enough progress has been made to at least post something.

This is my first time doing a color-matched build, and I've gone with a black and white theme, so I'm calling my build "High Contrast".

My Parts List: (first revision, current revision in following post)

CPU: Intel Core i7-5930K 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH X99 ATX LGA2011-3
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
Storage: Sandisk Ultra Plus 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (reused from old desktop)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB SSC ACX 2.0+
Case: Thermaltake Suppressor F31 ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Silverstone Strider Gold 1000W (reused from old desktop)

Cooling:
Swiftech H220X2 (Apogee XL2 waterblock, MCP30 Pump, 2x120 rad)
XSPC RX360 3x120 rad (reused from old desktop)
Corsair SP120 PWM Quiet x 3 (on RX360)
Swiftech Helix 120 PWM x 2 (on H220X2)
Corsiar AF140 Quiet

My starting point for this build was the Asus Sabertooth X99 motherboard. Here it is pre-mod:

And naked (without the Thermal Armor)... its still a damn good looking board!

Painting the Thermal Armor:
I'm using Rustoleum Flexidip for all my painting... its essentially the same stuff as Plasti Dip, but I find it to be a little thinner so it tends to have a smoother finish. Also its significantly cheaper than Plasti Dip in Canada

Painting the XSPC RX360:

The motherboard with the painted Thermal Armor installed:

I love Flexidip... was able to just "peel" the paint off the TUF logo easily. Traced around it lightly with an exacto knife to get a nice, clean edge. I think it turned out great!

Test fitting the SP120 fans on the painted RX360:

Bench testing with the H220X2 prior to installing: (also because I was still waiting for my new case to come in at this point)

Suppressor F31 stripped down of all drive cages:

Motherboard and Power Supply installed:

Painting the Power Supply Cover, PCI Slot covers and GTX970 bracket:

And, the final build: (or at least I thought it was going to be)

Until this happened: (they are all supposed to be white )

This was actually my 2nd defective H220-X2, both had issues with the LED strip on the reservoir. I decided to give up and go back to my trusty D5 Vario and a fully custom loop, so I've ordered some more parts and bought some stuff off members here, and will be updating this log once everything has come in.

I did however get the backplate for my GTX970 this week, so I decided it needed to match:

Update to the parts list:

Ordered/purchased Water Cooling parts:
EK Supremacy Evo - Acetal
EK X-Res D5 with D5 Vario (res is new to me, D5 Vario is from my old build)
Coolgate G2 240mm Rad
Corsair SP120 PWM Quiet x2 (on coolgate)

Still to order:
Darkside PETG Hard tube
Darkside 12mm Hard Tube fittings
GPU Waterblock

I had always intended to go hard-tube with the H220 X2 as well, but now it will be using these parts instead.

All the main cooling parts have arrived now.

Going to set up a temporary system with flexible tubing and some mismatched fittings I have on hand already (Bitspower black sparkle angle adapters and TFC black barbs) before I order the hard tubing and fittings from Dazmode, just to see if I'll need any 90's, 45's or snake fittings or if I can do it all with just bending the PETG and using straight hard tube fittings.
