My System Specs

Default EkLeCt1k (Water Cooled Mountain Mods Extended U2-UFO)

The White Asylum rig was my first attempt at folding and I have to admit that I kinda dig the concept so I decided to build a second folding rig!

So here it goes…

This new build is called the « Eklect1k » simply by it’s cooling components origins.

First you have to understand that I don’t usually use a ton of brands on a single build. Maybe 6-7 including tubing and coolant.
And this time it’s a stunning 13 brands if you count the Phobya Bench . And also in this build it will be a mix of new, used and already owned components.

That’s a very eclectic build and since I wanted to add an eclectic touch even in the name. So gamertag style it was

Build setup/parts listing :

In Black are the new parts
In Blue are the already owned parts
In Red are the used parts (from HardwareCanucks and Overclock.net fellows and also from Ebay)

Here's the first pictures

Before going under water I had to test if the motherboard, the CPU and the 2 GTX 580 were all working well so I tested them on air (except my trusty H100 since the CPU didn't come with a HSF)

The result was successful for everything! The CPU is overclocked at 4.2-4.3GHz. I also did a folding test with the CPU only and it was quite nice.

Here's a picture of the stock I have to stuff in this build

That's all for now...more updates tomorrow

Oh! by the way...we have got to love Phobya

Okay yesterday's update!

I removed the stock heatsinks on the motherboard to replace it with the MIPS waterblock. I have to say this block look is stunning!

BEFORE

NAKED

AFTER

Sorry for the blurry pictures

Second job was the installation of the blocks on the 580's...and I hit a "rock"

The first one was the Heatkiller and it was a charm to install and DAMN it looks good

The second one was the Aquacomputer one and this is where I hit a "rock"...one of the screw post near the processor failed on me and I still don't know how. So I went online and bought a second Heatkiller and since I will have 2 Heatkiller block I also bought a Heatkiller bridge ....so this little "rock" cost me some money but it is what it is...

Here's some pictures of the GPU's

The 2 GTX 580 with the blocks (of course the one with the Aquacomputer block is for archive now )

And the precious

Here you see what broke on the Aquacomputer block

That's all for now. Next step is CPU block and radiators/fans installation...

I leave you with an artsy shot just for the kick of it

Damn, those HeatKiller blocks look amazing. I was so close to purchasing them for my rig (for a GTX 680) as they also have a sweet looking back-plate. Sill not sure if I made the right choice going all acrylic (with EK blocks) - the Heatkillers would've fit in brilliantly with a shining silver theme.

Sure EK and Heatkiller are different in terms of look but you won't be disapointed with EK blocks...I usually only have EK waterblocks on my GPUs

I'm not sure what you mean but there's 12 fans for 2 360mm rads in push-pull...
