Do you intentionally strip the EXIF from the pictures?

What ISO, f stop, and exposure length did you use?

It was shot Raw, so not sure. I dont manually do anything. Maybe i need to check photoshop to see if its being removed.
Iso was 100, F9 i think and shutter was a 1/4 i think.

-edit-
found the cause. Photoshop was in fact removing the EXIF data i think.

-edit-

hopefully this works:

With the T1i can you use the LCD as the view finder? If so try using that w/ manual focus, use the + - buttons to zoom in and double check the focus is good. Your hardware pics above have too much light. Natural light is king but too much light will wash the pictures out. If you have a window w/ Venetian blinds that would help a lot. Otherwise try taking the pics just below the window. Or wait for a cloudy day, but since this is summer who knows when that would be.

Definitely better.

Take like 10 to 20 pictures of the same thing with various focus and angles. I also find when taking pictures of hardware that small and close up a higher f stop helps a lot. I use f11 a lot.

On something like acrylic blocks or sleeving try to catch the light. But you really need to have it cloudy or in the late evening an hour or two before the sun sets. Like so.

Camera and lens don't matter near as much as figuring out how to use light. That was taken w/ the same lens you are using.
