They're mac-handles cause they're rounded? It does have the "slide to open" feature after you remove the screw... Just no glass.

As an empty case, they don't flex. It's original shape is to have a gap in the middle of the handle for "feet". If it was rounded, or flat it would roll.
If you're looking for a compact feel, ie: shoe box size, a case without compromises is probably not the case for you...
